Caroline was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer last October and battled through a very rigorous regimen of chemotherapy to shrink the cancer. Caroline was able to get the cancer shrunk enough to have it removed however after the surgery a lesion was discovered on her brain which proved to be too big of a beast, even for our Shim, to overcome.
Caroline attended Minot State University where she received a degree in social work. Caroline went on to work as a social worker in Estevan, Sk, which is where she met her soulmate, Wayne Zandee. Caroline and Wayne were married on August 11th, 1990. Caroline went to work for Estevan Rural School Division. On May 31, 2001, Caroline and Wayne welcomed their daughter Madison into the world, which proved to be Caroline’s greatest role. Caroline and Wayne entered into business for together and started Red Dog Drilling in 2005 where Caroline worked as the business manager until 2017 when the business was sold.
During Caroline’s career in social work she fought hard for the people that didn’t seem to have a voice and she made the world a better place for many people. While managing Red Dog, Caroline and Wayne met many young men that considered Caroline their Rig Momma and Caroline showed them great admiration and reveled in the role, caring for them like the kind, caring, loving and tough Mom she was.
Caroline will be deeply missed by many family and friends, including her beloved dogs River and Riggs. All who loved her will especially miss her beautiful smile, warm & welcoming spirit, her impeccable bargain hunting skills, and losing to her at many games.
Wayne and Madison are very appreciated for all the love and support showed from family and friends, near and far, helping them through this devastating loss.
A celebration of Caroline’s beautiful life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3rd, 2022 at Prairie Place in Arcola, Sk.
If friends do wish, donations in memory of Caroline may be made to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada, 415 Exmouth Street, Unit #101, Sarnia, Ontario N7T 8A4
