

Rita was born in Storthoaks, SK to Jean-Baptiste Paradis and Flore-anna Chicoine. After grade 11 she took a bookkeeping course in Regina and joined her father in the RM of Storthoaks office for 9 years. She married Aimé Gauthier July 23, 1947 after he returned from the war. They had two children, Raoul and Gisèle. While working for her father, she took a municipal course and took over from her father as Secretary-treasurer in 1963 when he retired. In 1973, they moved to Carlyle, where she became the Secretary-treasurer for the RM of Moose Mountain. Ten years later, Rita and Aimé retired to their cabin at White Bear Lake Resort. They spent many wonderful years there with friends, children and grandchildren. They enjoyed curling, golfing, dancing, swimming, skiing and travelling as well as being active in the community, church, Girl Guides, and legion.
Rita was predeceased by her husband, Aimé Gauthier; her parents, Jean-Baptiste and Flore-anna Paradis; her siblings, Irene (Armond) Bourget, Gilbert (Marie-Louise) Paradis, Alphonse (Cecile) Paradis, Louise (Lloyd) Gladu, and Jean Paradis. She is survived by her son, Raoul (Wray) Gauthier; daughter Gisèle (Robert) Carriere; grandchildren, Renée Gauthier (Tyler Norsten), Danielle Gauthier (Mark Hemmeke), Shawn (Carey) Carriere, Aimée Carriere (Keith Brunt), Michelle (Brad) Cooper, and Rhéanne (Warren) Delmage; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Gabriel (Josephine) Paradis; sister-in-law Gabrielle Paradis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Family Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 22 in Glen Morris Cemetery with Reverend Father Amando Caneveral officiating.
