

Garrett was born in Clinton, Iowa, and attended Anderson University (Anderson, IN), graduating with the class of 1966.
Garrett dedicated his professional life to education, serving as a respected teacher at North Central High School in Indianapolis, IN, where he touched countless lives. His leadership extended beyond the classroom as he served as President of the Indiana State Teachers Association (ISTA) from 1989-1994, advocating for educators and the importance of quality education.
Outside of his professional achievements, Garrett was an avid photographer, capturing the beauty of the world through his lens, and had a lifelong passion for cars, which he cherished and celebrated throughout his life.
He is survived by his children, Garrett L. Harbron Jr and wife Heather (Reed) Harbron; Brendon C. Harbron and wife Jennifer (Lucas) Harbron; and Jennifer L. (Harbron) Rue. He was a proud grandfather to Zachary Harbron, Jacob Harbron, Kaitlyn Harbron, Susan Scarbeck, Chloe Barrett, Garrett (Grae) Harbron III, Marinda Harbron, Joshua Rue, and Elise Rue. Garrett is also survived by his brother Thomas Harbron and sister-in-law Jeanne (Phillips) Harbron.
Garrett Lee Harbron’s legacy will endure in the hearts of all who knew him, remembered for his dedication and success. A Celebration of Life will be held to honor his life and share memories on Saturday, October 26 from 1-4pm.
