Nancy Dorwart

Nancy Lyons Dorwart of Carmel, Indiana departed this life Saturday, June 27, 2020, at 70 years of age. Born Nancy Bay Lyons on April 19, 1950 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, she was the second of three children to Jane S. and Kenneth J. Lyons of Linden, Pennsylvania. Nancy grew up on the family 55-acre farm and graduated with honors from Williamsport High School in 1968 and, in 1972, she earned a secondary education degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Nancy was married to Robert H. Dorwart, initially of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on June 24, 1972. She had been introduced to Robert by her brother, Michael, while both were attending the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Nancy was a devoted wife and mother, having always made a loving family life and wonderful homes for her family during many relocations. She contributed many hours to the Park Tudor Mothers’ Association during her sons’ tenures there and served one year as that organization’s president. Nancy is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Dr. Robert H. Dorwart; by her beloved and loving sons Dr. Michael R. Dorwart (Dr. Amy M.) and Steven R. Dorwart, by her precious granddaughter Vivian Lyons Dorwart; and by devoted brother Dr. David Michael Shotts Lyons (Margaret M.) and sister Rebecca Jane Lyons; and by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Leppert Mortuary – Smith Carmel Chapel on Sunday, July 5, 2020 from 2:00 – 4:00PM. In accordance with guidelines, social distancing and face masks are required.
