

Graduate of Ladywood School for Girls in Indianapolis and Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame. She worked as a social worker early in her career, then married Richard F. McNamara and devoted her life to being a homemaker and mother of six. She enjoyed a wonderful 64 years of marriage, and raised her family in Carmel, IN.
Peg dedicated much of her life to volunteerism. Deeply-rooted in her Catholic faith, she was very involved at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, regularly volunteered at The Merciful Help Center, assisted others as an RCIA sponsor, and many other parish events and community initiatives. She enjoyed volunteering every year at the voting polls. She enjoyed playing bridge, hosting family gatherings, and Friday night dinners with friends.
Survived by her children Margaret (Meg) M. McNamara, Julie A. (Rannan) Smith, Maura E. (Russell) Fortune, Brendan M. (Stephanie) McNamara, daughter-in-law Jennifer M. (Sean) McNamara, 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Miller.
Predeceased by her parents, husband Richard F. McNamara, sons Sean T. McNamara, Terence J. McNamara.
Family and friends will gather at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, located at 14598 Oakridge Road, Carmel, Indiana, 46032, on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., (eulogies will begin at approximately 11:45 AM) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Indianapolis.
