

75, of Carmel, Indiana departed this life Saturday, December 17, 2022 at IU Methodist Hospital. Steve was born December 2, 1947 in Hicksville, Ohio to the late Ernest Ned & Nancy (Miller) Beck, his mother passed when Steve was a toddler. He attended school in the Hicksville area. Steve earned his degree in journalism from Bowling Green State University in 1969 where he belonged to the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He then attended Officer Candidate School for the USMC in 1970.
With his personable character, He was a natural at sales and had worked for various companies including Bee Window, Culligan, Home Depot, and most recently worked for Empire Flooring & Carpet as a sales manager.
Steve was a kind and gentle soul who had never met a stranger. He lived his life to it’s fullest and had a whole lot of fun along the way. He was an accomplished and competitive road cyclist, and following his Parkinson’s diagnosis, was a friendly and familiar face at Rock Steady Boxing. Steve had also been a private pilot and member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He always enjoyed an hour for his log book in his Piper PA-20 Pacer.
Steve loved speed. He was proud of his 1969 Alfa Romero Spyder, enjoyed countless F1 and IndyCar races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and rarely missed an Indianapolis Colts game.
Steve is survived by his wife, Lori Beck; children, Travis (Courtney) Beck, Andrew Beck, Aubrey (Toni Smith) Little and Sam Beck; brother, Joseph (Kerri) Beck; grandchildren, Ella, Arden & Penelope Beck; niece, Sarah (Jonas) Wisda; nephew, Jordan (Allison) Beck; Scooby the dog and a host of grateful friends.
In addition to his parents, Steve is preceded in death by his step-mother Eloise Beck.
A celebration of life for Steve will be from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday, December 27th at Apres Jacks (the back room at Daddy Jack’s on 9419 N Meridian St, Indianapolis, IN 46260). A time of remembrance for Steve will begin at 6:00 pm. Minors are welcome however please enter through the back door to avoid walking through the bar.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Steve’s name to Parkinson’s Foundation or to Indy Humane.
