Maria Hoàng Thi Chè was born on February 23, 1941 in Mong Cai, Hai Phong, Vietnam. She was the third of five children by Mr. and Mrs. Thien Hoang. She was married to Mr. Luyen Hoang and together they had 10 children, 4 boys and 6 girls. She is survived by her husband, 9 children, and 13 grand children.
Che was a devoted wife, loving mother, and dedicated servant of God. She faced many challenges in life, but with strong religious belief, she sought God's guidance to keep her family together so her children can have the presence of their father. She worked all her life, from dawn to dusk, to have food on the table for her children and gave them the best in life.
Che, along with her husband and children, re-united with her two sons in America in 1992. After many years of hard work, she finally had time to devote her life to serve God. She joined the Vietnamese Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ church in Carrollton, Texas and served food to church members even when she was barely able to walk.
Che suffered a catastrophic burn to her body and passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She lived in sorrow, but died in glory with God. We celebrate her wonderful life and know that she is resting in peace and in the love of God.
