Mr. Nguyen Khac Thieu was Born in Hai Duong, North Vietnam on March 5th 1924. He and his family moved to South Vietnam in 1953. he graduated from CLASS 3 DONG DA of THU DUC Reserve officer Military Academy with the rank of Artillery Lieutenant. After a number of years in service he was promoted to the rank of Caption in 1958, Major in 1965, and Colonel in 1973.
In 1959, he enrolled at Advanced School of Artillery in FORT SILL, OKLAHOMA,USA. In 1960, as a military observer, he studied and analyzed operational activities performed by 25th Artillery Division of the United States in South Korea.
In his last position, he served as Commander of the 7th Artillery Division in MY THO province, 4th Military Zone, South of former capital city of SAIGON.
Following the fall of the South Vietnamese Government in April 30,1975, he was imprisoned in a Communist prison, located at far North Vietnam near the border of Vietnam and China, for approximately 13 years.
He was released from prison in 1988. In 1992, he and his family emigrtated to America and settled in Dallas Texas.
He and his wife of 64 years, Pham Thi Thanh, have 12 children (5 sons & 7 daughters), 3 daughter-in-laws, 6 son-in-laws and 14 grandchildren. His passing leaves a big void in the hearts of the people who loved him. He is greatly missed by his friends, family and former colleagues.
