Dorothy Lavern Briggs

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at First Baptist Church Euless with Bob Neely officiating. Burial will follow at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rhoton Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born in Hollandale, Mississippi to Eddie and Willie Mae Jordan on March 19, 1937. She graduated from Hollandale High School in 1955. She married USAF Major Harold Lloyd Briggs, Ret. on June 9, 1957 in Greenville, Mississippi. She worked as a Group Planner for American Airlines for 13 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church Euless and was involved in Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames and the National Huguenot Society.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Willie Mae Jordan, and brothers, Malcolm and Roger Jordan.

Dorothy is survived by her husband USAF Major Harold Lloyd Briggs, Ret., son David Briggs and wife Deanna, son Darryl Briggs and wife Lisa; sisters Alveta Decker, Catherine Pike, and Linda Werlein; brother Dr. Thomas Jordan; grandchildren Aaron Briggs, Brytany Briggs Blackstead, Hannah Briggs and Jonathan Briggs.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Briggs, Jonathan Briggs, Jeremy Blackstead, Eddie Bridgers, Bartley Parker and Benjamin Parker.
