

Earline “Kay” Salem of Carrollton, TX passed away October 12, 2014, at the age of 61 in the Vitas Hospice unit at Baylor Hospital of Carrollton. She was born August 2, 1953, in Madisonville, TX, the daughter of Earl Cecil Collier and Maudy Ludene Gilley Wilkins. Kay worked for many years as the owner of a cleaning company. She enjoyed quilting baby blankets, a hobby she learned from her mother. She also liked collecting refrigerator magnets and miniature carrousels. One of her favorite pastimes was country-western dancing with her life mate, Stanley. In addition, she worked tirelessly for the past several years as a mentor for those in AA. Her impact as an encourager for others in their time of need has been substantial and will remain as a lasting legacy of her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Collier; brother, Burley Gilliam; her daughter, Cammy Ayala; her niece, Nora King; and her mother, Ludene Wilkins. Kay is survived by her life partner, Stanley Hawk; her best friend and twin sister, Faye Germain and her husband Bernie; three sisters, Pat Ward and her husband Larry, Kathy Holt, Sue Tankersley and her husband Ray; and one brother, Robert King and his wife Julieta. She is also survived by one son, James Fancher and his wife Jerrese; five grandchildren, Jennifer Fancher, Daniel and Joy Estes, Angelica and Betio Ayala, and four great grandchildren. A heartfelt thank you to dear friends,Valerie Belk and Shirley Strodtman, who opened their home and cared for Kay over these past few weeks. Your lovingkindness will be long remembered.
