Estelle Virginia Godwin

We are here today, not to mourn but to celebrate…because that’s what this is: A CELEBRATION, A HOMEGOING for Estelle Godwin, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and extraordinary woman who touched the hearts of everyone she met. At 87 years old, she lived a life full of love, laughter, and wisdom that will forever resonate with us. Though absent in the body, she is present with the Lord.

Estelle was born on July 4, 1937 in Lawrenceville, Virginia. From her early years, she showed an unwavering spirit and a passion for life that would define her for decades to come. She dedicated her life to her family, nurturing and supporting them in every way possible. As a mother and grandmother, she was a guiding light, always encouraging her children to become the best version of themselves and instilling in them the values of kindness, compassion, and resilience.

Her home was a sanctuary filled with laughter, good food, and the occasional Spades game! Family gatherings were her favorite, and she had a unique way of making everyone feel special. Whether it was her famous fried chicken, collard greens and coconut pie, or simply her comforting presence, she had a gift for making their lives richer.

Estelle also had a vibrant social life, filled with friendships that spanned many years. She was known for her impeccable sense of style, her love of travel, and her enthusiasm inspired those around her. Her laughter was infectious, and her stories, often filled with wisdom and humor, will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of hearing them.

As we remember Estelle today, let us reflect on the lessons she taught us through her actions. She showed us the importance of family, the beauty of friendship, and the power of love.
