

George Edward (Eddy) Prather Jr. 58, of Lewisville, Texas passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Medical Center of Lewisville, Texas. Born January 7, 1954 at the United States Army base in Augsburg, Germany, he was the son of Sergeant George E. Prather Sr. and Mae J. (Copestick) Prather. From 1998-2000 Mr. Prather worked at All American Aviation; from 2000-2007 he worked at AmeriFlight; he left due to illness. George was a Correctional Sergeant at the Kentucky State Reformatory at LaGrange Kentucky from 1993-1998. He graduated from Madison Consolidated Schools in 1973; after graduation he entered the United States Army where he served for 20 years and retired with the rank of 1st Sargent in the Aviation. He served as Senior Maintenance Sergeant from 1983-1985 while assigned to the 163rd Aviation Company at Fort Campbell, KY. He was then assigned to Fort Hood in 1987 after completing the AA-64 Technical Inspectors Course. Served as 1st Sergeant of BCO 3-501 1st Aviation in Korea; leading his company through a successful ARTEP and an Aviation Resource Management Survey (ARMS) Inspection. While assigned to C Troop 1/7 Cavalry from April 15, 1991- November 1993, 1st Sergeant Prather lead the troop successfully through 2 squadron command inspections.
For exceptionally meritorious service while serving as 1st sergeant for Charlie Troop, 1st Squadron 7th Cavalry from April 15-November 1, 1993. 1st Sergeant Prather’s technical competence, tactical expertise and untiring devotion to duty brought great credit upon himself, the 7th Cavalry, and the United States Army. George received the Meritorious Service Medal. George enjoyed building, renovating, and working with his hands. He also enjoyed fishing, bicycling, and art (painting, drawing, etc).
George is survived by his wife, whom he married on August 27, 1991, In Ae (Kim) Prather. One son, Scott Allen, at home; one daughter, Sarah Kim, at home; his mother, Mae J. Prather of Madison In; two sisters, Cindy Lowry and her husband Michael of Haughton, LA; Betty-Lou McQueary and her husband Robert of Madison, In; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, George E. Prather Sr. in 2006; one brother, Scott Allen Prather in 1964.
Pastor Hong will conduct funeral services on the 25th of September at 9:30 at Rhoton Funeral Home, Full Military Services will be conducted at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery following services at 11:15.
