John Wilfred Lockhart

John W. Lockhart, 89, of Carrollton, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on September 27, 2023.

John was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on January 24, 1934 to Frances and Roy Lockhart. He attended University of Minnesota majoring in Electrical Engineering. John moved to Texas in late 1970's to escape the Minnesota snow. In 1985 he met Ruth Dabney Meadows. They married March 20, 1986.

John worked as an Energy Systems Management Manager for Sanger Harris for over 20 years. He loved golf, was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved horse racing.

John is preceded in death by his mother and father, Fran and Roy Lockhart, sisters Joanie Zerwas and Kathy Erickson, brothers Ronny, Kenny, and Buddy.

John is survived by his wife, Ruth Lockhart, his daughter, Jeanne Lens and husband Michael Lens, sons, John W. Lockhart Jr., Thomas Lockhart and wife Connie, David Lockhart and wife Judy, Grandchildren, Timothy Lens and wife Christie, Amanda Torkelson and husband Andrew, Andrew Lockhart and wife Sarah, Evan Lockhart and wife Katelyn, Great Grandchildren, Harrison Lens, Hank and Waylon Torkelson. Stepchildren, Debra Dvorak, Arlene Meadows and Steve Meadows. And last but not least - his faithful canine companion, Teddy.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to Greater Dallas Boys and Girls Clubs 4816 Worth St., Dallas Texas 75246 or the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls, 1318 Sixth Street, Wichita Falls, Texas 76301.

John's family wishes to thank Dr. Seema Modi, Dr. Enrique Perez, and Aspen Hospice Service for their exemplary care.
