She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, and her daughter, Suzanne.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda, Angela, and Michelle, grandchildren Ryan, Aaron, Holly, Christopher, Jordan, Madison, and Jerrett, great-grandchildren Giada, Grant, Charlotte, and Jackson, and her beloved dog, Lydia.
Born in Dennison, TX and raised in Texas City, she was the youngest of four, with one older brother, Granvil, and two older sisters, Novlyn and Elsie. She lived near her beloved grandmother, whom she visited frequently and often cited later as her inspiration for being a wonderful grandmother.
She met the love of her life, Stan Woolsey, at the bank where she worked. He was attempting to settle the financial business of one of his enlisted men over the phone, and when she didn’t budge on her stance, he declared he would head right up to the bank and settle matters in person. He quickly changed his tune when he saw her face.
Kathy’s utmost priority was always her family. A loving wife, mother, and Mimi above all else, her kids used to joke that the president of the United States could be calling, and she’d reply, “Honey, I can’t talk right now, my kids are here!” She was quick to give the shirt off her back or the shoes off her feet—quite literally—if it meant her kids, grandkids or great-grandkids got something cute out of it.
Kathy loved painting, drawing, and crafts, and her house was adorned with many of the pieces she created over the years. A set of the three little pigs adorned her kitchen wall, and in her bedroom hung the drawings of her past pets: Mama Kitty, Smokey, Marcie, and Maxie. Unsurprisingly, she was more than happy to make something beautiful for her loved ones.
Her memorial service will be on Sunday, November 21st at 2PM at Rejoice Lutheran Church, her beloved church. The service is open to family and friends alike as we celebrate the life of a beloved member of our family and community.
