Mary Jacob

Mary Jacob (Rajamma) was born on September 28, 1939 in Kottayam, Kerala India. She was the oldest of four children born to the late C.P. Cherian and Aleyamma Cherian. She was known to her family as Rajamma. Rajamma graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Kottayam. She completed her intermediate studies at C.M.S. College in Kottayam. She went on to earn her B.S.C. in Botany from Assumption College in Changanacherry, Kerala.

She married Chempithra Jacob (Jake) on June 6, 1962 in Kottayam. After her marriage, she earned her B.Ed. at Mt. Carmel College. Rajamma had two children, George and Sarah. She came to the US in 1966 and worked as a Lab Technician at the University of Louisville.

Rajamma enjoyed many hobbies including music, traveling and was an accomplished seamstress who created many beautiful items for her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She was greatly loved by her many nieces and nephews. Rajamma was called to her heavenly abode on April 23, 2019. She will be missed by her family and friends, but her spirit will live on in all of us.
