Mary was born in Dallas, TX, on March 18, 1928, to Archie and Mina Jacobs. She attended Crozier Tech in the class of 1946.
Mary was married to Ray Kleypas on January 28, 1961, in Lampasas TX; they were married 43 years before Ray's passing in 2004.
Mary worked as secretary to the president of Whittle Music in Dallas from the mid 1950s until the mid 1960s, at which time she began her 28-year career at Otis Engineering in Carrollton, where she held several positions in the IT and Telecommunications departments. She also had a passion for Mary Kay cosmetics and sold it to many friends and relatives for decades. After retiring from Otis, she went to work volunteering for the First Methodist office until just a few years ago.
Mary, a devoted follower of Christ, sang in church choirs for most of her life, frequently as a solo soprano. She had a beautiful voice. She first sang in the Cedar Crest Methodist choir in South Oak Cliff from the late 1940s until 1962, and then the First Methodist Carrollton choirs for decades afterward.
Mary and Ray loved to bowl and they bowled in leagues at the Valwood Lanes. She also enjoyed sewing, loved playing cards (especially Samba) with her friends from church, and had a green thumb that filled many shelves at home with African violets of many colors.
Mary is preceded in death by husband Ray Kleypas, daughter Lois Wetzel, parents Archie Jacobs and Mina Thomas, brothers Archie Jacobs Jr (Neddie) and James E Jacobs (Hazel), nephew James O'Neal Jacobs, and nieces Mina Jacobs, and Cindy Edwards, She is survived by her son Gordon Wetzel, daughter Lisa Kleypas, grandsons Austin Werner (Catherine Codispoti) St Louis, MO, and Stuart Werner (Emily) of Austin, TX, and Werner great grandchildren Raylan, Alexander, Scarlet, Elizabeth, and Louise, nephews Don Jacobs (Debbie), Russ Jacobs (Alicia), nieces Laura Delk (Joe), Ruth Ann Law (Joe Don), Velma Byford (Eugene), James O'Neal's widow Linda, and many great nieces and nephews, with a special acknowledgment to Stephanie Smith, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
A visitation for Mary is scheduled for 10 a.m. on March 4th in the sanctuary of First Methodist Carrollton. A Celebration of Life will follow the visitation at 10:30 a.m.
