

Ollie Merrill passed away peacefully in his home on September 19 after a short battle with cancer. In death, Ollie exhibited the same quiet, humble, grace that had been his defining characteristic throughout his life.
Ollie was born in Gans, Oklahoma on August 8, 1930 to his beloved parents Cecil and Edith Merrill. Ollie was a Veteran and served in the United States Army and Air Force. On February 18,1955 he married Bonita Farrar. They were married for 61 years.
Throughout the 1960’s Ollie owned and operated a barber shop in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He relocated to Garland, Texas in 1973 where he established a successful commercial and residential real estate appraisal business.
Ollie was beloved by all that had the good fortune of knowing him. He was selfless, generous, and kind. He treated others with grace and respect. He was an unfailing source of love, wisdom and quiet support to his three children. Ollie loved country music and could often be found picking out tunes on his prized guitar.
Ollie was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita Merrill, parents; Cecil and Edith Merrill, and siblings; Paul Merrill, Raymond Merrill, Kaye Mayabb, Pat Rodgers. He is survived by daughters Karen Foster and Kathy Merrill, son; Keith Merrill, siblings; Bob Merrill, Acie Merrill, Vida Brooks, Judy Cowen, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
