Ruby Sara (Dennis) Perry gently left this world to be with her Lord and rejoin her husband Cecil. Ruby passed away January 23, 2014 at Elmcroft Assisted Living in Temple, Texas. She left this world surrounded by her large loving family and steadfast in her faith and trust in the Lord.
The daughter of Edna Erle Hickman and Earl “Pete” Dennis, Ruby was born on December 4, 1930 in Waco, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil L. Perry and daughter-in-law Sandra Smith Perry. Survivors include sons Dr. Steven C. Perry of Abilene, Chris Dennis Perry and daughter-in-law Jeniece Cox Perry of Salado, daughters Sue Perry Fluty and son-in-law Art Fluty of Bedford, Elizabeth Ann Perry Feaster and son-in-law Randy Feaster of Roscoe and Laurie Perry Stewart and son-in-law Paul Stewart of Allen, Texas and grandchildren Stephanie Travis and husband Jeff, David Perry and wife Rochelle, Charissa Sellers and husband Chris, Bethany Hassman and husband Scott, Jeff Fluty and wife Andrea, Andrew Fluty and wife Brooke, Taylor Fluty, Faith Parten and husband Austin, Madison Feaster, Austin Stewart, Sara Stewart, Reid Stewart, Abigail Stewart, Samantha Perry, Katy Perry and James Perry, thirteen great-grandchildren and sister Marjorie Dennis White of Titusville, Florida. Ruby was much loved by her family and friends, many nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed.
Ruby made her mark on this world by the lives she both touched and created. A fixture for decades in Abilene, Ruby was a member of the Abilene Woman’s Club and Garden Club, a breast cancer survivor, and later in life an award winning sales associate at Neiman Marcus of Fort Worth. A role that allowed her to combine a love of shopping with a love of giving gifts to those she cared so much about. When the family grew to such large numbers, she turned to hand- making keepsakes for her grandchildren. Gifts they will surely cherish forever.
In her own time, she was a voracious reader. It was a passion she shared and fostered with many in her family and it allowed her to expand her world exponentially more than that of the small town, Texas girl she was so many years ago in Liberty Hill. As she now joins her husband she has so dearly missed these last several years, it is not hard to remember our Mother, Grandmother, MeMe, and Great Grandmother as she was, perhaps at her happiest: In her home, Cecil at her side, at a table (or tables) full of family coming together for good food, laughter and celebration. Undoubtedly, we will continue to celebrate a life that impacted so many, so greatly.
Burial will be held at 10:15 am on Wednesday, January 29 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211 and a service following at the Rhoton Funeral Chapel at 12:30 pm at 1511 S. Interstate 35 E, Carrollton, TX 75006 officiated by Dr. Tim Temple. Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Perry’s grandsons.
