
Reverend Santos Ramos, Jr.
The Rev. Santos Ramos, Jr., 73 of Carrollton went on to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 4, 2011. The son of Santos and Sarah Ortiz Ramos, Sr., he was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on April 8, 1937. He grew up in Wichita Falls and graduated from Wichita Falls High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps, and following a call to the ministry, received a Bachelor's degree in Religion from Howard Payne University in Brownwood. His first ministry as pastor was in Lampasas, Texas, and he later served congregations in Taylor and Lubbock, Texas. Rev. Ramos and his family moved to Carrollton from Lubbock in September of 1979, where he recently celebrated his 32nd anniversary as pastor of Primera Iglesia Bautista. He also served as Vice-President of the Hispanic Baptist Convention of Texas and was a primary resource for various church conferences held throughout the state as well as at the Glorieta Conference Center in New Mexico. He was also a 22 year employee of the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District as a bus driver, where he was able to extend his ministry even further into the community. Rev. Ramos was passionate about extending the message of the “Good News” outside the United States and traveled to several Latin American countries with International Crusades. Rev. Ramos is survived by his loving wife, Norma, whom he married in Wichita Falls, July 30, 1965; daughter, Jennifer Ramos of Lewisville; daughter, Deborah Estrada and her husband Erikson of Highland Village; son, Roland Ramos of Frisco, Texas; daughter, Catherine Ramos and her husband Andrew Share of Bloomington, Indiana; grandson, Andrew William Estrada of Highland Village; four brothers, Alfred Ramoz of New Mexico, Robert Ramoz of Dallas, Texas, Abel Ramoz of Florida and Arthur Ramoz of Kemp, Texas; four sisters, Mary Wright of Wichita Falls, Elizabeth Fox of Florida, Betty Guzman of Little Elm, Texas, and Sarah Kroeger of Lancaster, Texas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 2600 N. Josey Lane, in Carrollton. The Rev. Robert Ramoz will officiate the service. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Carrollton on February 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Wayne L. Allen officiating. Graveside services will follow at Restland Memorial Park. (Rhoton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.) Rev. Ramos will always be remembered by his family, friends and church family for his infectious sense of humor, generosity of spirit, compassion for souls and his love of God’s creation. He has left an indelible imprint of God’s love on his community and all who were privileged to know him.
