

He was born in Greenfield, Dade County, Missouri on March 31, 1934. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Reba Carmack and his son Patrick Carmack. He is survived by his loving devoted wife Doris Louise Carmack, his sister Madge Thompson, his children Stephen Harold Carmack and Pamela Sue Pugh, four grandchildren and 1 1/2 great-grandchildren.
Hal graduated from Watsonville High School in California and earned his Associate of Arts degree at Cabrillo College in June 1962. He was one of the pioneers of America's space program and worked at Lockheed Missiles and Space Corporation, North American Aviation, and various organizations within the Atomic Energy Commission. Later, he worked as a public utilities officer at the Public Service Commission in Las Vegas, Nevada and Carson City, Nevada where he retired in 1990.
An avid bowler, Hal joined many leagues at Carson Lanes, making friends as well as passing the bowling torch to his oldest son Steve ("Bub"). Hal and Louise loved traveling and they visited many places in the northwest and southwest.
