John grew up in Napa, California where he graduated from Napa High School in the class of 1979. He worked as an Operating Engineer running heavy equipment and worked for Huntington Bros., Clyde Plymell Construction, and Syar Industries. He retired in 2008 and returned full time to his home in Virginia City, Nevada where he loved the wide-open spaces and “dirt highways” where he enjoyed the outdoors, traveling the Nevada wilderness.
John loved classic vehicles, especially anything “Dodge". He was a gifted mechanic and resurrected a 1941 Dodge WC15 Military Command Car from parts he brought home in boxes. Old Dodge Power Wagons were another favorite of his which he enjoyed driving and restoring.
John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Liz Huntington, his daughter, Justine Polvos, three grandchildren, Simon, Isabelle and P.J., and his mother Nancy Joseph. John was preceded in death by his father, James Huntington and his grandparents, Dexter and Exie Huntington.
He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and is dearly missed. He is lovingly remembered for his big heart, generous spirit, and his sense of humor.
