

Mr. Allen Benson, 87, of Cartersville, GA passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Allen was born in Stilesboro, GA on March 15, 1933 to Mr. Charlie Worn Benson and Mrs. Willie Lou Morris Benson.
Allen was a graduate of Taylorsville High School and went on to proudly serve in the United States Army. He retired from General Motors after working over 30 years. Allen was an active member of Silver Sneakers, The Retired Men’s Group, The Georgia Sport Flyers, and The CHVA Car Club. He loved his country, old westerns, aviation, and classic cars, but most of all his family. He will be remembered for his generosity, strong work ethic, tractor rides, and passion for life. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 42.
Allen is preceded in death by his loving wife, Faye Black Benson, as well as his parents and siblings.
He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda (Bo) Emerson, Robbin Benson Hurley, grandchildren; Lindsey Curry, Ashley (Robert) Landers, Kaitlyn (Ross) Peterson, Jay (Mary-Frances) Emerson III, Charleston (Kathryn) Hurley and Meg (Caleb) Hurley. Seven great-grandchildren; Evie, Sawyer, Bo, Sam, Lucy, Lilly, and Annie.
The family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from six o'clock in the evening until eight.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton on Tuesday, February 9 at eleven o'clock in the morning. Serving as pallbearers will be: Jay Emerson III, Charleston Hurley, Caleb Privette, Robert Landers, Ross Peterson, and Mike Patterson.
