Bertha Mae Bruce, age 86, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on November 1, 2025. Born March 8, 1939, in Clinchmore, Tennessee, Bertha lived a life filled with faith, family, music, and love.
Bertha was a woman devoted to the Lord and to sharing His word. Her evangelical spirit shone brightly through her work in Christian radio, where she spread hope and encouragement to all who listened. She was also a gifted musician who loved to play both the piano and guitar, filling her home and community with the joy of song.
Bertha had a creative and caring heart, finding joy in sewing and using her talents to bless others. Together with her late husband, Wilbur Freeman Bruce, she shared 47 wonderful years of marriage. Side by side, they owned and operated a barber shop, serving their community with kindness and dedication.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilbur Freeman Bruce.
Bertha’s legacy of love lives on through her children: Irene Phillips (Ron), Arthur Phillips (Suzanne), Gary Phillips, Terry Phillips (Melissa Golden), Oscar Phillips Jr., and Shane Phillips (Ashley); her grandchildren: Amber (Brandon), Memory (Allen), Stephanie, Ashley, Christy (Cesar), Brittany (Mack), Isaiah, Heather, Daniel, Rachel, Joshua, Amanda, Angela, Noah, and Kirsten; and her great-grandchildren: Emma, Eli, Ethan, Nora, Bailey, Avery, Raul, Elias, Joseph, Shauna, Jonah, Isaiah, Noah, Gregory, Kaylee, and Madelyn.
She also leaves behind a dear friend, Liz, whose companionship meant so much to her.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the compassionate staff at Townsend Park Health and Rehab for their loving care and support.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Dr., Cartersville, GA 30120.
Bertha will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her beautiful music, her generosity, and the warmth she brought to everyone who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her light continues to shine in the hearts of her family and friends.
