

Mr. Knowles was born on March 30, 1941 in Rome, GA, son of the late Eulas Eugene Knowles and Minnie Williams Knowles.
Mr. Knowles proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1959 - 1966 as an aviation mechanic. His squadron supported ground forces during the early stages of Vietnam and supported the blockade during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired from Chemical Products of Cartersville in the late nineties after twenty-eight years of dedicated employment. He was a long time member of the Cartersville American Legion, where he was known as "Mumbles". He was lovingly known to his family as "Beauty", a nickname given to him by his mother at birth because he was the most beautiful baby. He was an avid genealogist who traced his family history back into the late 1600's. Every family vacation for two decades was dedicated to the hunt.
Mr. Knowles is preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Janice S. Knowles; sisters, Helen McKinney, Joyce East and Eulene Quick; brothers, Buddy Knowles, Shag Knowles, Sam Knowles, Albert Knowles, Larry Knowles, Gene Knowles and Eddie Knowles; great-granddaughter, Temperance Camp.
Survivors include his son, Dan (Vicky) Knowles; three granddaughters, Ashley Camp, Amber Yeargan and Erin Knowles; great-grandchildren, Amelia Camp, Aeson Camp and Bennett Yeargan; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at twelve o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 16th of January, 2024 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Tim East officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Eastview Cemetery, Rome, GA with military honors rendered.
Serving as pallbearers are his nephews.
Friends and family are invited to a gathering with the family from five o'clock in the evening until eight on Monday, the 15th of January, 2024 at Owen Funeral Home.
