

Mr. King was born June 19, 1922 in Gordon County, the son of the late, Mary Susan (Shaw) King and Paul King, was a self- employed Paint contractor and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Martha Louise (Lucy Ray King.
Mr. King was a resident of Cartersville since 1935, was a 1940 graduate of Cartersville High School and was a member of First Baptist Church since 1935. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served from 1942 until 1946, served in the South West Pacific Theatre, saw action in Ulithi, Kerma Retta and Okinawa aboard the USS Nestor ARB6. He was a self- employed decorating contractor in the Atlanta area from 1948 until 1982. He was married to his wife Lucy for 60 years. She passed away November 15, 2010After retirement he spent most of his summers in his vacation home in Hiawassee, Georgia traveled extensively visiting 47 states and much of Canada.
Surviving are his sons, Paul King of Alpharetta, Georgia, David and Jane King of Lawrenceville, Georgia, sister, Martha Mercer of Cartersville, grandchildren, Katherine Louise and William Curlee, Mary Elizabeth and Wade Hanse, Emily (King) and Rob Huffman, great-grandchild, Quinn Louise Curlee, niece, Andrea Mercer and Chris Clayton and grand-niece, Leanne Kelly.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens with Rev. Drew Startup officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 12:30-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Katie Curlee, Will Curlee, Emily Huffman, Mary Beth Hanse, Wade Hanse and Leanne Kelly.
