David Harvey Corriher, 66, passed away on Sunday April 12, 2020 in Cartersville, GA. He was born on January 25, 1954 in Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James Harvey Corriher and Margaret Roberta Campbell Corriher.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Pamela Proctor Corriher, brothers Alan (Anne) Corriher, China Grove, NC, Mark (Carolyn) Corriher, Mocksville, NC, Clark (Anne) Corriher, China Grove, NC and a sister, Julie (Lonnie) Hoffner, Mooresville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
David was a gentle, soft-spoken soul, never without a smile or his abundant sense of humor who deeply loved his wife, life and family. His quiet, reserved manner concealed a life that was in constant motion. David pursued several careers and excelled at all.
He was raised on his father’s dairy farm in Mooresville, NC where he learned the lesson of hard work, doing a job well and a love of the land. He got the biggest kick out of telling the story of how he and his brothers and sister even drove their own school bus to school. He attended North Carolina State University, graduating in 1976 with a degree in Textile Engineering and going to work at Dan River in Danville, VA.
In 1981, he moved to Cartersville with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co and, soon after, married Pamela Proctor Corriher on July 9, 1982. Wanting a change, David enrolled in Life University Chiropractic College in 1983 and, after graduating, began a successful practice for many years on Tennessee Street in Cartersville.
Having conquered another career, he set out to pursue another based upon his lifelong appreciation of land, real estate and property ownership completing his real estate licensure requirements in 2001. He was the consistent recipient of the Professional Achievers Award from the NorthWest Metro Board of Realtors. In addition, he received both the Presidents Award and the General Brokerage Silver Phoenix in 2013. He was associated with Asher Realty.
His community involvement originated in Danville, VA, with the Jaycees and picked right up in Cartersville with both the Bartow County and Cartersville Rotary Clubs, Cartersville Morning Optimist, Red Cross, United Way Leadership Campaign and the Cartersville-Bartow Chamber of Commerce. He was a devoted member of Sam Jones Memorial UMC and a member of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class and a member of the Chancel Choir.
David was also an accomplished pilot and he loved to fly, even building his own ultra-light plane. When he could, he would fly back to his home in North Carolina to visit.
David was a lover of pets, he had for some years a dog named Lucky that had happened up at their house, and they became fast friends. He also had his beloved cat, aptly named, Little Cat, that was as devoted to him as he was to it.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Chancel Choir or the Building Fund of Sam Jones Memorial UMC, 100 West Street, Cartersville, GA, 30120.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
