You are a strong woman and outwardly deal with adversity well.  Your sole has been shaken with the loss of David and I hope you can feel some comfort from the well meaning words of support from your family and many friends.

As my high school band director, Dave Seanor taught me skills and content and encouraged me to explore my love of music.  Beyond what he taught me in the field of music, Dave taught me how to be a better human being.  I encountered Dave a critical time in my youth when I desperately needed an adult like him in my life to help guide me.  As passionate an educator as I remember him to be, I most remember how he balanced commitment to his work and maintaining a zest for life when off-the-clock.  My life is better for having Dave in it and I'm so thankful to have had the opportunity to know him!

I had the pleasure of  having Mr. Seanor as a teacher during my 8th grade year at HMS.

Mrs. Seanor was out with their newborn, and he was our primary instructor. 

What I will remember about him the most is his patience and dedication in enhancing our skills.

David's compassion for music and life is known by all  of us that knew him.  Each time we met, we often joked of his resemblance to my high school director.  He was always encouraging to me as we matriculated through Troy.  His Love for his immediate family and "Sound of the South" family was unequaled.  

Rest Well and know that your teaching and presence touched all that knew you!

Jane and Seanor family,

I am so sorry for your loss.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  David was a special man.  He had a wonderful approach to life and a way about him that made people around him happy and better people.  He had a great sense of humor and a way of making anyone laugh.

David actually saved my life in 1968 or so.  We were all swimming in a lake near a dock.  I did not know how to swim then and had wondered out with the bigger kids and was over my head but holding the dock.  I pushed away from the dock and went under twice when David reached over and grabbed me.  I thought for sure I was a goner and would have been if not for David.
 He was a wonderful man that people naturally looked up to.

I pray your family finds peace and comfort during your loss.

In todays service, David's circle of friends was talked about. That hit home with me. David welcomed Carol and I into that circle and it was great. He would stop by the store and tell us about his family! His latest hunting and fishing stories and his winning or losing poker streak. I especially liked when David would bring his dad up for a visit. I got to know a very happy man and he will be seriously missed.

Mr. Seanor Was the reason I stayed in band in high school. I’m pretty sure we talked more about life goals and achievements then actually playing the clarinet. Not only was he our band director..he was our counselor, doctor, preacher, and for some a father! I appreciate all of his kind words and life lessons he taught us all! He will be truly missed! ❤️

"Dave" was a great colleague!  His ever-present, ear-to-ear smile could ease any professional difficulty.  I never saw him without that famous smile.  
    It was evident he loved his work and his band "kids."  He lead thm to many honors and achievements. To see him leading the CHS band at football games was to witness someone in their niche. 
  The last time I saw "Dave" was in Kroger.  We both broke into a smile, and we spent time "catcing up." This, I will treasure.
   To "Dave's" family, my thoughts and prayers go with you.  This is truly heaven's gain.

I was so sad to hear of Mr. Seanor’s passing. I remember him well from his tenure at Bradwell Institute and his work with Jennifer, both in band and as a Dancerette. I was so sad to hear of David's death.  He and Jane were longtime friends from Troy.  I remember David always having a smile on his face. At band reunion each year at Troy, he and Jane would greet so many band folks with their smiles and handshakes.  He will surely be missed by all that knew him whether they be Troy friends, his band students or folks he worked with.  Rest in Peace David!!

Wish I could be there but I am unable to travel due to my health.  


Mr. Seanor played a huge part in my growth as a young adult. He taught me passion and confidence. One thing I think of that makes me laugh is the “pink” shirt he wore to work. He swore up and down that it was salmon colored and it probably was but we all enjoyed to tell him it was pink. I will miss you Mr. Seanor! Thank you for the large role you played in my life!

Words cannot express what I am feeling right now.  When I found out the news, I was so stunned.  Mrs. Seanor you and your family are in my prayers.  I remember what you and Mr. Seanor have done for us band members as provided opportunities outside of the classroom.

Some people have a way of leaving lasting impressions and David Seanor most certainly made his mark. I was his student at Zion Chapel. A quiet, music fanatic that could sing, play piano and trumpet by ear. He knew I was memorizing and not reading the music. He acted like he hated it (but I think secretly he didn’t mind). 
My parents experienced a financial hardship and could no longer afford for me to participate in band. Mr. Seanor would let me stay after school and wait until practice started and he arranged with other parents and students to take the burden of the commute from my parents. He did a lot of things and said a lot of things to me that didn’t mean much at the time (because I thought I knew it all)..but as an adult I very much appreciate that this man was so involved in the lives of his students, especially mine. Much love and many prayers .

My heartfelt condolences go out to Jane and her family. David was a great guy, a wonderful musician and always a joy to be around. His laughter and his delightful sense of humor will be missed. May God strengthen you all through this difficult time. 

Mr. Seanor was a great band director one of my favorites that  I had over the years being in band even though I only had him for one year and that was my sixth grade year at Moses middle school. He was a man that if you had issues or questions he would be free to listen and help no matter how busy he was. When I had him in that sixth grade year as a band teacher I knew he was also my friend or as I like to think a wing man for he would help me or even everyone with life issues or even instrumental issues that may happen. If you were feeling down on any given day his smile, his jokes , laughter , or even personality all around made you feel better not only bout the issues you or challenges put in front of you he was there to help you get through the rough times . When I heard the news of his passing I was sad for I had lost My best friend and teacher and a mentor, and I just want to say that even though he is away from us I want to send my condolences to his family and friends and I know we all will see him soon again one day. 

Dear Jane,
It's still so hard to believe that Dave is no longer with us.  I've been having such a flood of memories that go way back to the Hinesville days when I worked with you and David.  You both taught me so much about teaching that I really needed to learn and what I learned from both of you stayed with me the rest of my career.  I'll always remember Dave's laughter and how it made everything seem that much funnier. He always love to tell stories and we all would laugh at the way he would tell it.  I hope in the coming days ahead God will give you comfort and peace and I shall keep you in my thoughts and prayers.  May God bless you and your family during this very sad time.

David and I were both in the Troy band together,  as was Jane.   When Hardee's started doing breakfast,  there were many times he, I, and Dave Campbell would go breakfast together.  David was a man amongst men! I am so sorry to hear of a life lost so early.  I have seen posts from former students and colleagues. He was loved by his students,  and respected by his friends and peers. Heaven has gained a new bad to bone trumpet player! RIP, my friend. 

Although David and Jane were not in our lives for very long, they both left a lasting impression on us.  They worked for a short time in the Liberty County School System and we were friends with their family  (Ed and Pat Navarre).  We were very sad to hear of David's passing. Praying for peace and comfort for all those who counted David as family and  friend.

David Seanor was a lover of his family, music, children, and life. Also so cordial with a smile. He will be so missed. I will be praying for his adorable, sweet family. Thank you for all of your years impacting young people and our community. Rest In Peace and Rise in Glory.

I have tried to think of what I would write but I am still in a state of shock.  Dave was anybody and everybody's friend the moment that he met you.  I remember how postitive he always was no matter what.  Always had a smile on his face even when he was stressed.  He always made me feel like I was special and was so valued every time that I saw him.  I was lucky enough to have watched him work with bands and learned alot from watching him.   
Jane I am so sorry for your loss.  He will truly be missed.

Mr. Seanor's love of music and teaching shined in everything he did. He was a very warm and generous person and pushed every student  in his field of vision to succeed, whether he was your teacher or not. I send my prayers and condolences to his family and friends. Rest in Peace, sir. 

I was a special education teacher at Moses Middle school where I met and  worked with David.  He was always smiling and had the funniest jokes to share!  He also cared a lot about my special education students who were taking band.  Many of them struggled with learning their instruments or music, but he always tried to remain patient with them and helped them feel positive about themselves.

My deepest condolences to the Seanor family.  I have known David since our Troy State University "Sound of the South" days ; had the opportunity to work with him when he was the band director at Zion Chapel HS. I am privileged to have known, and worked with him.  Rest easy sir. 

There are times in your life that you never forget. One of those times is actually a pretty long period of my high school years! Mr. Seanor did not just teach music, he gave us all a huge family that laughed, cried, won, loss and most of all belonged! Not many band directors put everything they have into it, he did! Those were some of the beat times of our lives and we Thank You! Prayers for comfort and peace to his family and friends!

Jane,  I will always remember when I was in your middle school band in Hinesville and all I ever wanted to do after that was be in David’s band at Bradwell Institute.  Shortly after, they built Liberty County High, but you both always kept me in your memories.  Every time I saw you both at GMEA, you both remembered me and made me feel welcomed.  I’m so very sorry for your loss and I hope you know how fortunate I was to have known David even though I was never in his classroom as a student.

I taught with David at Zion Chapel High School. He was more than a colleague; he was my friend. We shared lunch period, and he kept us well entertained. He also taught my daughter in marching band in high school. He was a good influence on her. This was truly a man taken too soon. 
He will be sorely missed. 

David was my friend and brother.  We played in the Sound of the South at Troy University.  He was a trumpet player.  David and I were room mates at one time.  I remember he invited me to his family home one Thanksgiving.  He was a dear friend and I will miss him.  My best to Jane and his family.  May God give you peace and comfort.  

I can’t begin to count the memories that I have. He pushed us kids to be better, to be stronger, to be compassionate and that it was ok to not be perfect. Who doesn’t remember the times he would write his GPA on the board and let us all know that if he could bring his grades up and graduate, the rest of us could do anything we set our minds too. I was living in Europe in the early 2000’s and had landed an amazing job and had an overwhelming urge to share that with him. I googled and found the school where he was teaching and picked up the phone and called. We spoke about just about everything, our families, what Mrs. Seanor was doing, how Johnnie was (I was her first teenage babysitter) and everything else that we could squeeze into an overseas call at the time. He took a little girl that joined band so she could have a class with a friend and guided her to have passion for music and a thirst for doing better. My love and prayers are with you Mrs. Seanor, Johnnie, David and your whole family.  Much Love, Shanez

Words can not express how heartbroken I am. David was one of the best. Part of my childhood was spent on the water ridding the boat with him and his family.. David was an amazing man that was loved by so many.. I pray the family will feel Gods love during this most difficult time..

Jane,  I have no words to express how heartbroken I was when I heard of David’s passing. Since you moved from here I never had a chance to know your children but I know that being raised by you and David they had to turn out very good. My wife and I were students of Mr. Seanor at Bradwell.  One of our favorite memories of Mr. Seanor were the days in band class when we would get our instruments out ready to play but instead he would turn the entire class period into a life lesson and talk to the class.  He was a great band teacher but it was those moments that meant so much to us as young adults who thought we knew everything.  His wisdom went beyond music education and I along with countless others are so grateful to have had him in our lives.  My prayers and love to Mrs. Seanor and the family. 

There aren't any words to express my deepest sympathy to Jane, Johnnie, David, grandchildren, and family about the loss of their beloved David.
