

David was born on July 14, 1947 in Montgomery, WV, son of the late William W. Wood and Ethel Virginia Logan Wood.
David proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War earning three Bronze Stars. He also served one term in the Naval Reserves. David started playing the drums when he was ten years old and became a master percussionist. He played drums in the Cowboy Jazz Band and The Chapparells traveling the country for thirty plus years. After retiring from his music career he attended Gupton-Jones Mortuary College where he met his loving wife of twenty-six years, Dianne Tumlin Woods. He began his career at Love's Funeral Home in Dalton, GA where he served as a funeral director and embalmer for several years.
David is preceeded in death by his brother, William "Bill" Walter Woods, II; and one great-grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Woods; daughters, Tonya (David) Branyon and Nicco (Frank) Duncan-Lilge; son, Cary Morris; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; niece, Anita Purkey; nephew, Billy Woods.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at one-thirty in the afternoon on Friday, the 30th of March, 2018 at the Georgia National Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Jacobs officiating.
Serving as pallbearers are Levi Duncan, Gage Morris, Frank Lilge, Christopher Charles, David Branyon and Jeffrey Tumlin.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from ten-thirty in the morning until twelve on Friday, the 30th of March, 2018 at Owen Funeral Home.
