

Lamar is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Ruth Garland; sister, Belva (Jo) Denning; brother, Jimmy Garland. He is survived by his daughter, Lynn (John) Bloodworth, his son James (Lauren) Garland; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sarah, Hannah, Hudson, Harper; brother, Larry (Freida) Garland, sister-in-law, Jerrie Garland and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Lamar served his country honorably both in the Navy, as well as the Air National Guard, later working at Lockheed-Martin on the F-22 and C-130 projects where he would retire after 27 years of service.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his family. He was known for his love of Gospel music, native American Indian history, and his Southern heritage.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 4, 2024 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. John Bloodworth and Rev. Barry Garland officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday August 4, 2024 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
