Ellen Carolyn Mathison

Ellen was an amazing woman who had strong family values. She was always there for her family and was happy to help raise her grandchildren. Ellen also came from a large family, being one of ten children growing up. Ellen had strong work ethics and was the rock of her family. In her younger years, she enjoyed singing in a band. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed by all.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Randy Lee Mathison; sister, Maxine Whitehair and brothers, Lawrence Brown, Larry Brown and Carlis Brown.

Ellen is survived by her sons, Rick (Pam) Mathison and Hughie Mathison; daughter, Ariah Garret; sisters, Patricia Jordan and Janette Eschliman; brothers, Gary (Nancy) Brown, Waymond Brown and Linwood (Sherry) Brown; grandchildren, Nikki (Steven) Duncan, Josh Mathison and Chelsea Mathison; great grandchildren, Hayden Amos, Lola Duncan and Logan Mathison.

A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at two o’clock in the afternoon, in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Dr., Cartersville, GA 30120 with Rev. Linwood Brown officiating.

The family will accept friends for visitation three hours prior to the service. Ellen Mathison will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery immediately following the service.
