Mrs. Elma Simpson Cornwell, 87, of Cartersville, GA passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Elma was born July 9, 1931 in Cartersville, GA to the late Mr. O. P. Simpson and Mrs. Retha Evans Simpson.
Elma was a devoted member of Cassville Baptist Church being a member since 1961 where she taught Sunday School for 47 years. She worked as a supervisor at Lewis Carpet Mill and an administrative assistant at Cartersville Fence Company.
Mrs. Cornwell is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Milton Simpson and sisters; Ellen Owens and Carolyn Couch and grandson-in-law, Preston Tate.
Elma is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Mr. Walter (Red) Cornwell, daughter, Sheila (Danny)Ray, son, Mike (Kerry) Cornwell, granddaughters; Lorrie Tate, Melissa (Derek) Martin, Stacie (Aric) Thornton, Brandi and Brittany Krupich , grandsons; Joshua (Anne) Cornwell and Travis (Detra) Krupich. Thirteen great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren also survive to cherish Elma's memory. Sister, Peggy (Earl) Lee, sister-in-law, Peggy Cornwell, brother-in-law, Virgil Couch.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted for Mrs. Cornwell in the Owen Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, December 8, 2018 at two-thirty in the afternoon with the Rev. Ron Cansler and Rev. Mark Somers officiating. Interment will follow the service at Cassville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 7, 2018 at Owen Funeral Home from six o'clock in the evening until eight.
