Elmer was a resident of the Hickory Log vocational home in White, Georgia for the last 16 years of his life. While living there, his fellow residents became like family and Hickory Log became a place he loved to call home.
Elmer was a member of the First Assembly of God church in Cartersville, Georgia. Elmer had a big heart and loved to help people any way he could. He attended many church programs and volunteered his time at local charities. He was known by many in the community and loved to be the center of attention wherever he would go. One of his favorite things to do was to spend time with his best friend and brother in Christ, Charles Hudson.
Along with his parents, Elmer is preceded in death by his brother, James Smith and brother-in-law, Eddie Parks. Elmer is survived by his sisters, Carol Parks and Mary Gearldine (Roy) Morris, several nieces and nephews, and extended family. A graveside service for Mr. Elmer Smith Jr. will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Keith Woods officiating.
