
Mr. Cochran was born August 22, 1922 in Pickens County, a son of the late Fain Cochran and Minnie Dean Cochran.
He was an Army veteran of World War Two, a member of the Rowland Springs Baptist Church and owner/ operator of City Motors of Cartersville, which he established in 1948. He was a founding board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Bartow County.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Esther Rickman Cochran in 1996, he is survived by his wife, Frances Burton Cochran, his daughter and son in law, Janet and Ted Thornbrough, of Cartersville, stepdaughter, Valerie (Steve) Cowles, of Memphis and step son, Brian Burton, of Calhoun, his grandchildren, Joseph Cochran Thornbrough, Tessa Joy Thornbrough, Melanie and Burton Cowles, his brother, Ed Cochran, of Cartersville, sisters, Myrtle Mullinax and Margine Fowler, both of Cartersville, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Claudine Weaver.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 5, 2012 from the Rowland Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Ringwalt, Dr. Robert L. Maddox, Gordon Gilley, Rev. Paul Battles and Rev. Wayne Fain officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill cemetery, in Cartersville.
