Evelyn “Marie” Penson Hudson stepped into Heaven with the same spark, sass, and unstoppable spirit she carried every day of her life. She was a loving, generous woman whose greatest joy — without question — was her family. Married to her soulmate, R.C., whom she met on a blind date and instantly knew she’d spend forever with, the two shared twenty six beautiful years. Their bond was unshakable — a team in every sense of the word. Together they raised three children they adored beyond measure: Kim Davis (James), Robbie Hudson (Summer), and Laura Beth Tatum (Clint). Her heart overflowed with pride for her fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, all of whom absolutely treasured their Granny.
Marie was the kind of woman who could light up a room before she ever set foot in it. She was everyone’s friend — witty, hilarious, fiercely honest, and somehow able to say exactly what she thought in a way that made you love her even more. She never passed up good Mexican food, could shop with Olympic level dedication, and in her younger years, bowled her heart out and built lifelong friendships along the way.
Alongside her husband, Marie was a bold, bright businesswoman — fearless, outspoken, savvy, and a trailblazer long before the word was popular. She and R.C. were known as generous, kindhearted business owners, respected and loved throughout the community. Marie lived loudly, laughed deeply, and left her mark on everyone lucky enough to cross her path.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, January 22, from 6–9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m., followed by a graveside service. Marie will be cherished, celebrated, and missed beyond anything words can capture.
