

Henry Lee Jordan went home to be with the Lord on August 8, 2014 following an extended illness. Living in Emerson for his entire life, he was an active member of the Emerson community representing the community on the City Council, first as a councilman and then as Mayor for some 32 years. He was a member of the Emerson Masonic Lodge #738 F & AM, a Deacon at Bethany Baptist Church and helped establish the community Civil Defense Force and Volunteer Fire Department. He is preceded in death by his parents, Freeman M. Jordan and Edith Elizabeth Hilburn Jordan and grandson, Justin Jordan. He was a second generation master carpenter, following in his father’s footsteps. He will be missed.
Henry leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Kitty Sue Fowler Jordan, sister Bonnie Blankenship, and sisters-in-law Yvonne Leander and husband Robert Harrison and Judy Fowler. Carrying on his legacy are three children; Sherron Jordan O’Conor and her husband Ellsworth of Acworth, Stephen Jordan of Emerson, and T. Scott Jordan and his wife LaDonna of Cartersville; five grandchildren: Brandi O’Conor Elliott and her husband Michael of Orlando Fl, Nicholas O’Conor and his wife Angela of Kennesaw, S. Bo Jordan and Dusty Jordan of Emerson and Jacob Jordan of Cartersville; and three great-grandchildren; Elizabeth Elliott, Greyson O’Conor and Emmalynn Elliott. He has also left behind many extended family members and dear friends who all meant so much to him.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, August 10th from 4-8 pm at Owens Funeral Home in Cartersville. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 11th at 2:00 pm at Bethany Baptist Church in Emerson with Terry Webb, Rev. Danny Willis and Rev. Rex Cox officiating.
Pallbearers will include Jacob Jordan, Dusty Jordan, Bo Jordan, Nick O’Conor, Michael Elliott, Wesley Davey, Stephen Jordan and Scott Jordan.
