James Edmund Greene

Mr. Greene was a 1951 graduate of Cartersville High School and graduated from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 1957. The class of 1957 was the first class in Georgia to graduate with a four year law degree. Mr. Greene began his career in law with Ronald Chance, Attorney in Calhoun, Ga and was later a practicing Attorney with the firm of Greene & Greene, Cartersville, until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, State Bar of Georgia and The American Bar Association.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Christine Little Greene; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jerry Silhavy; son and Daughter-in-law, James E. (Jim) Jr. and Tammy Greene; granddaughters; Krista Silhavy Maddox and Jenna Silhavy; grandson James E. (Jay) Greene III.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, November 10, 2017 at three o’clock in the afternoon in the Owen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenny Jacobs officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 9, 2017 from six in the evening until eight at Owen Funeral Home.
