A native of Bartow County, Larry was born in Funkhouser on February 22, 1948, to the late H.A. Taylor and Mae Cornwell Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Shannon Taylor; and his siblings, Junior Taylor, Gene Taylor, Janita Bagwell, Doris Ingram, and Billy Taylor.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Patsy Roland Taylor; his children, Michael Scott Taylor (Melissa), Stewart Wayne Taylor (Connie), Dawn Tummins (Andrew), and Mitzi Taylor; his grandchildren, Michael Taylor, Jordan Taylor, Stephanie Taylor, Matt Taylor, Nikki Huskins, Izzy Tummins, Ansley Tummins, Tate Tummins, Hope Evans, Jacob Evans, Caleb Taylor, and Jeremiah Taylor; and his great-grandchildren, Jayden Taylor, Jayce Taylor, Jaycee Taylor, Brynlee Taylor, Brycen Taylor, and Beau Taylor. He is also survived by his sister, Marie Elrod; sister-in-law, Bonnie Taylor; and brother-in-law, W.A. Ingram.
Larry was described by his children as the best dad ever. He never met a stranger and was known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone without expecting anything in return. A true people person, he never spoke an unkind word about anyone. His greatest love was his wife, Patsy, along with their children and grandchildren. Affectionately known as “Pop,” he treasured watching his grandchildren grow and faithfully attended their sporting events and activities.
Larry was a true “get-er-done” kind of man who never stayed idle. He enjoyed taking the boat out on the lake, gardening, yard work, meticulously caring for the family pool, and cheering on the Braves and Falcons. He also enjoyed watching NCIS and Gunsmoke.
He was the proud owner and operator of Taylor Farm Supply and Taylor Service Center from 1964 until 2003. Even after retirement, Larry remained active. He worked as a bus driver with Bartow County Schools, where he was affectionately known as “Uncle Larry,” and as a parts delivery driver for Advance Auto Parts. He continued serving in various positions with Bartow County up until last year.
