Lavern Segars Bennett, 74, of White, GA left for her Heavenly home April 9, 2020, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She aggressively fought this horrible disease with every ounce of her being just to spend as much time as possible with her family. Lavern was born December 7, 1945, in Bartow County to the late Frank and Myrtle Abernathy Segars. She was an active member of Center Baptist Church where she was a former member of the choir and former President of the Ladies Circle. Lavern retired in 2003 after 26 years with Shaw Industries (previously Stratton). She was a Product Development Coordinator at the Dallas Woolen Division. She was a very creative person and always put others ahead of herself. Lavern was a wonderful cook and was well known for her biscuits and dressing. She was a very talented seamstress whose handiwork could be seen all throughout her home. Lavern enjoyed tending to the beautiful flowers in her yard. She, along with her husband, Jerry, always had a very bountiful garden each summer which they shared with family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her so much joy!
Lavern was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Billy Segars, and her sister Annette Hardin. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Jerry W. Bennett of White. Also, surviving are her son, Greg (Tammy) Bennett of Cartersville and daughter, Amy (Stacey) Nicholson of White. Grandchildren also surviving are Katie Ruth (Jason) Lowe, Colin Bennett (Cassidy Faulk) of Cartersville, Ashley (Jordan) Runion and Will (Abby) Nicholson of White, Great-Grandchildren: Makinleigh, Tate and Henry Runion of White. Also surviving are her brother, Bobby (Pearl) Segars and brother-in-law, Jack (Faith) Hardin, all of White. Many faithful friends and extended family members also survive. As a result of current mandates for gatherings, a private graveside service, conducted by Rev. Joey Phillips and Rev. David Abernathy will be held for the immediate family. Memorials may be made to Center Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Mike McPherson, 181 Bennett Kimbrel Road, Cartersville, GA 30121.

Mother You were the first Jesus we ever saw
Your heart was tender and your words were the law
When we were children, you encouraged and corrected
When we were teens, you molded and directed
In your kitchen, life’s lessons were taught
In your prayers, our souls’ salvation was sought
We owe you our lives and much, much more
We honor you now and we praise the Lord
For a virtuous mother with value so great
Nothing on earth can compare or replace
Your love and impact on us and many others
We know that we have the best mother of mothers
