Maxie Johnson

Mrs. Johnson was born November 6, 1917 in Bartow County, the daughter of the late, Forrest and Katie (Smith) Smith and was retired Post Mistress of Rydal Post Office. As long as her health permitted she was a very active member of Pine Log United Methodist Church where she served as Church Treasurer for forty-two years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William Carl Johnson.

Surviving is her nephew and his wife, Kenneth and Bertha Chapman of Calhoun, her sister in law, Vera Paris of Calhoun, special friends, Arneda and Jimmy Ford of Pine Log and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Gentiva Hospice nurses, Terri Joiner, Lisa Stanton and Chrystal Jones and very, very , special and faithful daily caregivers, Jerri Clark, Mary Spence, Sue Lanham, Linda Carlile and Linda Goldbeck.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Log United Methodist Church with Rev. Geoffrey Grubb, Rev. Mike Cash, Rev. Kirk Bozeman and Rev. Joe Watson officiating.

Burial will follow in Pine Log United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Wade Wilson, Doug Wilson, Carter Goode, Stephen Raines, Jim Goldbeck and Larry Chinski.
