Mrs. Melissa "Christine" Arrington Mathis Hutchens, 91, of Cartersville, GA passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Christine was born in Tifton, GA to the late Mr. Leon Harvey Arrington and Mrs. Hattie May McBrayer Arrington on March 9, 1929.
Christine was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She and her husband, Lanier owned and operated Hutchens' Trampolines for over 20 years. Christine was a devout Christian and a loyal member of The Church at Liberty Square who cherished spending time with her family and reading her Bible. She loved putting puzzles together with her grandchildren. Christine will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lanier Hutchens, her parents, and the father of her children, Vondell Mathis, step mother, Mamie Arrington, brothers; Cecil and Henry Arrington, sisters, Lucille Herndon and Mary Cruce, and son-in-law, Stanley Taylor.
She is survived by her children; Sheryl (Mike) Radford, Ricky (Amy) Mathis all of Cartersville, and Pam Taylor of Calhoun, grandchildren, Shannon (Missy) and Derick (Ashley) Radford, Melissa (Josh) Brown all of Cartersville, Clint Mathis of Austin, TX, Ryan (Alecia) and Tara Mathis, all of Cartersville, Lee Taylor of Calhoun, GA, Kristen (Josh) Davison of Adairsville, great grandchildren; Linsey, Cassie, Laney, Jason, Caylee, Brayla, Jace, great great grandchildren; Kaleb and Isla, sisters; Betty Spradley and Joan Barge. Many nieces and nephews also survive to cherish Christine's memory.
A Graveside Service for Christine will be conducted on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at three o'clock in the afternoon at Sunset Memory Gardens, Cartersville with the Rev. Dr. Jacob King officiating. Music for the service will be provided by grandson, Ryan Mathis. Serving as pallbearers will be: Mike Radford, Shannon Radford, Derick Radford, Josh Brown, Ryan Mathis, and Evan Collins.
