

Mrs. Mozelle Hames, 83, passed away on December 29th following an extended illness. She was born March 8th, 1941 in Bartow County, the daughter of the late Elbert Dean Sr. and Zell Hardin Dean. She grew up in the Taylorsville area but spent most of her adult life in Cartersville. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James “Claude” Williams in 1995, second husband William “Ebbie” Hames in 2012, and siblings Homer Dean, Elbert Dean Jr., Edward “Bud” Dean, Maggie Dean Hames, Horton Dean, Felton Dean, and Iona Dean Williams.
She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Williams Holland and son-in-law Robert Holland of Calhoun, grandchildren William Hannah and wife Ami of Adairsville, and Sarah Hannah and fiancé Matthew Poggio, Jr. of Cartersville. She is also survived by her brother Esko Dean, Sr. of Silver Creek, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.
Mozelle was a great fan of music from the 1950s and 1960s, especially Elvis Presley, and loved listening to music on her tablet. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her family and friends on Facebook. Prior to her decline in health and age-related vision issues, she loved reading and cooking for her family, and was well known for her delicious biscuits and cakes.
Per her wishes, she will be cremated. The family will schedule a memorial service at a later date. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Mozelle may donate to the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter in Cartersville (goodneighborshelter.org), or the Bartow County Library (bartowlibrary.org).
The family would also like to extend sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Cartersville Crossing (formerly Maple Ridge Health Care) and Tapestry Hospice for providing care for Mozelle during the last months of her life.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Saturday, January 25th at 1:00 pm at Chattahoochee Technical College Bldg D, North Metro Hall 5198 Ross Road Acworth, GA 30102.
