He was born on May 20, 1927, in Lockport, New York, to the late Mr. Albert and Mrs. Rose Wolf.
Richard grew up in upstate New York, and attended the University of Buffalo prior to enlisting in the United States Army. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers in the late 1940s, and after his service, began his career as a draftman for Harrison Radiators (a division of General Motors), where he worked for over thirty years. Upon his retirement, he moved to the Cartersville, Georgia area, where he enjoyed voluntarily driving his church's van for various outings, singing in his church's choir, boating on Lake Allatoona, meeting with his Retired Men’s group, and playing his weekly game of bridge.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his five children: Gay Wolf, Fae Smith, Hope Taratoot, Mindy Waelti, and Dawn (Joseph) Klemaszewski. He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Ben (Hope) Taratoot, Cole Taratoot, Jordan Taratoot, Ashley Waelti, and Rachel Klemaszewski.
A Celebration of Life service to honor and remember Richard will be held in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home in Cartersville, Georgia, on Friday, April 19, at eleven o'clock in the morning. Richard will be laid to rest following the service at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, with full rendering of military honors by the United States Army.
His family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home Friday, April 19, from ten o'clock in the morning until the service hour.
