

Mr. Smith was born March 14, 1934 in Walton County, the son of the late, Robert Thomas and Mary Alene McLeroy Smith, was retired from Lockheed, the city school bus system, Leisure Time Charters and Tours, Fastrak Courier Service and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was a likable man that never met a stranger and always had something funny to say to everyone.
Surviving is his wife, Sybil Butler Smith, daughters, Dr. Sherre Smith, Karen Cave, Connie and husband, Mark Chase, Carisa and husband, Don Myrick, grandchildren, Sarah and Emily Chase, Ashlee Puckett, Lucy, Olivia and Joe Cave. His grandchildren lovingly called him “Granbob” and they thought he was grand and they were the light of his life. He loved his family dearly. Also surviving is his sister in law, Sharon and her husband, Brad Hendricks, brothers in law, Jimmie Butler and his wife Lois, Andy Butler and his wife, Angie and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Duvall and Rev. Rubin Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in Euharlee Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Deacons of Friendship Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Hendricks, Jimmie Butler and Andy Butler.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund or to the
Awana fund.
