Scott L. Harper

Scott was born April 24, 1964 in Coronado, California, the son of the late Roger Wesley and Jane (Meadow)Harper and was of the Methodist faith.

Scott was a Coronado High School alumnus, class of 1985, was a former reporter for the Coronado Eagle and graduated from San Diego City College in 1990 with a degree in Journalism. He was passionate about working with youth and was both a coach and referee for soccer for more than 20 years , including work for San Diego Surf and The Boys and Girls Club of Solana Beach. He relocated to Cartersville, in 2000 where he was a paraprofessional/ teaching assistant for special education and disabled students, a swell as assistant coach for Woodland High Schools boys and girls soccer teams. He also coached Bartow County Parks and Recreation boys under ten soccer teams and was a referee for many soccer clubs. Scott was a volunteer instructor for the U.S. Navy Sea Cadets.

Surviving is his sister, Lynn Harper of Cartersville, formerly of Coronado, and his fiance’, Robin Fredrickson, of Cartersville, formerly of Coronado.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Jacobs officiating.

The family will be receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until 12 noon.
