

Ted G. Henry, age 83 of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on February 20, 2025. He was born on September 26, 1941 to the late Laura Carter Henry and Theodore Henry. Ted is survived by his wife of 38 years whom he married November 1, 1986, Gail Grogan Henry.
Left to honor him in their memories are his sisters, Shirley Henry Johnson (Marty) of Chico, CA and Barbara Henry Wallas of Tulsa, OK. Nephews Tad Sandrowski and Tate Sandrowski, both of Chico, CA. Niece Heidi McMurray of Tulsa, OK. Also, a number of great nieces and nephews.
He attended Mojave High School and the University of Maryland. Ted USN (Ret) enjoyed a career of 20 years, serving aboard a number of aircraft carriers to include the USS Randolph, USS Kennedy, and the USS Saratoga. His active duty was mainly in the Mediterranean.
After his retirement from the Navy, Ted worked in the off-shore oil business for several years, as an executive officer. He spent 4 years living in both Italy and in Spain during this time.
Back in the USA: In 1984 Ted came to live in Cartersville, and was employed at Lockheed Marietta for the next 20 years. In retirement, Ted took many opportunities to help his local community. He served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in Bartow County, advocating for their best interests.
Ted loved children, especially the First Graders at Clear Creek Elementary School! For 6 years he tutored twice a week in the Read to Grow program there. Kids LOVED Mr. Ted!
Generous was certainly a word to describe Ted. He participated in the Etowah Scholarship Foundation, providing aid and encouragement to local high school and college students on their journey to higher education.
Ted developed a great love of art during his years in Europe. His many visits to the Booth Museum in Cartersville stirred in him a special interest in the art of the American West. Ted was a Circle Member of the Booth Museum.
Ted Henry loved the Lord, his family and his friends. In that order. He had a faithful devotion to prayer to Jesus, the Rosary and Our Blessed Mother. He loved the Bible. Many have memories of Ted reading Scripture as part of the service /Mass at church. St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church was Ted's church home. His connections went back to the early 1990's when the church was on Cassville Road in Cartersville. He also loved the members and priests of St. Clements Catholic Church in Calhoun, Georgia.
He will be buried on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM with Naval Military Honors at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the building funds of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 850 Douthit Ferry Rd. Cartersville, GA 30120, or to St. Clements Catholic Church at 875 Hwy 53 W SW Calhoun, GA 30701.
