

Tuesday, April 28, 2026 , after 5-1/2 years of declining health Timothy Daniel Howell passed away from esophageal cancer and Wernicke's/Korsakoff syndrome. Leaving this earthly coil into the heavenly realm with his Lord and savior, Jesus.
Tim was born June 29, 1958 to Howard McDaniel Howell and Phyllis Bates Howell in Cartersville, Georgia.
Tim served in the United States Army for 20 years, seeing many lands and making memories while achieving his professional goal. He retired at the rank of Master Sergeant.
He was in the Fire Support Specialist Unit, having served in multiple states in the United States, Korea, and Germany. He was in Desert Storm, and Desert Shield, receiving medals for; Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd Award), Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal (With 3 Bronze Service Stars), Armed Forces Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Government of Kuwait), Driver and Mechanic Badge, Expert Marksmanship Badge (Rifle M-16, Pistol 9MM), and Army Commendation Medal.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Susan Poole Howell and daughter Shea Elizabeth Howell, granddaughter Shiloh A. Murray and his parents Howard M. Howell and Phyllis Bates Howell. Tim was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents. Mack Howell and Lillie Mae Waters Howell and his maternal grandparents James Phillip "Booger" Bates and Kathryn Lynch Bates, his younger brother Terry Bates Howell, as well many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Tim was a member of Cartersville Masonic Lodge #63.
Tim's funeral arrangements are visitation from 12 p.m. until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Owens Funeral Home Cartersville, Georgia on Sunday, May 3, 2026. Interment will take place Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 10:30 a.m at The Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
