

Walter Dean "Red" Cornwell, age 92, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 4, 2020 in Cartersville, Georgia. Red was born on October 7, 1928 in Cartersville, Georgia to the late Walter Robert Cornwell and Margaret Marsingale Cornwell.
Red was a member of the Cassvile Baptist Church for fifty-nine years, where he was the oldest living member at his passing. He retired from E-Z Mills after twenty-five years and was a poultry grower for the next twenty-five years. Red had great work ethics throughout his life and also enjoyed tending to his flower as well as vegetable gardens. He loved spending time outside and working his farm land.
Along with his parents, Mr. Cornwell is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elma Cornwell; sisters, Alma Gentry and Charlotte Brown; brothers, Clarence Cornwell, Murphy Lowe Cornwell, John Cornwell, Harry Cornwell, Leroy Cornwell, and Donald Cornwell; infant siblings, Leon Cornwell and Mary LeAnne Cornwell; and grandson-in-law, Preston Tate.
Mr. Cornwell is survived by son, Michael (Kerry) Cornwell; daughter, Sheila (Danny) Ray; granddaughters, Lorrie Tate, Melissa (Derek) Martin, Stacie (Aric) Thornton, Brandi, and Brittany Krupich; grandsons, Joshua (Anne) Cornwell and Travis (Detra) Krupich; fourteen great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Peggy Cornwell; brothers-in-law, Virgil Couch and Earl Lee to cherish Red's memory.
A celebration of life to honor Mr. Walter Cornwell will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at two thirty in the afternoon, at Owen Funeral Home chapel, 12 Collins Dr. Cartersville, Georgia 30120, officiated by Rev. Andrew Hackler. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mr. Cornwell will be laid to rest next to his wife, Mrs. Elma Cornwell at Cassville Cemetery immediately following services. All services are held for extended family members only. Due to the pandemic, please practice social distancing and face masks are required.
