William Ely

Mr. Ely was born March 31, 1941 in Floyd County, the son of the late Oscar and Florence Ely, was a retired engineer for Norfolk Southern Railway, was in the National Guard and a member of Raccoon Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert L. Ely.

Surviving is his wife, Patti Ely, children, Kim Ely Caves and her husband, Wayne, all of Cartersville, Nan Ely of Smyrna, grandchildren, Jonathan Caves and Patricia Caves, Brandon Bridges and Bradley Bridges, brothers, Danny Ely of Rome, Jerry Ely of Cave Springs and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening, September 1, 2013, at Owen Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. James Black and Rev. Harold Ingram officiating.

A private interment will be held later.

Instead of flowers the family would like contributions to be made to your church or favorite charity. He was always helping others and he would like for that giving spirit to be continued.
