Agnes Mary Free

Agnes Mary Lucille Free of Holly Springs, NC—a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law, and friend—passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024 at the age of 91. She was devoted to her three children: Karen Free-Boutwell of Raleigh, NC, married to Stephen Boutwell; Kimberly (Free) Barker of Holly Springs, NC, married to Craig Barker; and William (Billy) Free of Royal Palm Beach, FL, married to Kimberly (Gould) Free. In addition, she was a devoted grandmother to her grandson Jacob Barker of Raleigh, NC, married to Elizabeth (Meyers) Barker; granddaughter, Kaylene (Barker) Royston of Castle Rock, CO, married to William Royston; and grandson, Hunter Free of Royal Palm Beach, FL, as well as her great-grandchildren Cameron and Abigail Barker of Raleigh, NC and Mason Royston of Castle Rock, CO.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, William Charles Free; parents, William Boldizar and Mary (Ferko) Boldizar; and brothers William Boldizar and Robert Boldizar. She is survived by her sister, Irene Volkar of Smithfield, NC.

She and William married in 1953 and started their married life at Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg) in Fayetteville, NC. She then moved to Pennsylvania and raised her family, and here is where many memories were made of camping trips, boating, family game night, and Steeler football. She made a move to Florida where she worked in the Palm Beach County Tax Collector’s office until she retired and moved to North Carolina.

She will be remembered for her many talents, which include baking, sewing, and crocheting. She will also be remembered for her kindness and competitiveness. Most importantly, we will always carry her memory in our hearts!

A viewing and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, with the viewing starting at 9:30 a.m. and the funeral service taking place at 10:30 a.m. The location for both is:
