

Al was born in Chicago, IL on September 17, 1939 to the late Ralph and Pauline Stubbings. The family moved to Tulsa, OK when Al was in elementary school.
Al served in the U.S. Navy from May 20th, 1958 to 1962 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independence (CVA-62) that was part of the support for the blockade of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his service, he got his start at Lockeed Martin in Marietta, GA working on the C-5 aircraft. During his career, he was an Aircraft Avionics Technician and a Mechanical Inspector with these major airlines: Southern Airways, Republic Airways, and Northwest Airlines. He retired in 2004 after 32 years.
Al and his wife were married for 52 years. They raised two children in Marietta, GA until they moved to Cary, NC in 2017.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Stubbings of McAlester, OK.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Stubbings of Cary, NC; his daughter Melanie Lay (Michael) of Apex, NC; his son, Jonathan Stubbings (Amanda) of Marietta, GA; his grandchildren: Natalie Lay, Ashlynn Lay, Mikayla Lay of Apex, NC; and his brother Wayne Stubbings of Skiatook, OK.
Al Stubbings will be laid to rest at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on October 9th.
